Dear friends,
We were delighted that earlier this summer, our youth and children unveiled our new church logo on t-shirts in worship. It is fitting that this logo, which looks both to our history and to our future, would be introduced by our young people.
We hope you recognize the cross at the center of the logo as the cross that hangs above the pews in our sanctuary. It communicates what is deeply true of our congregation: we are a progressive Christian church, endeavoring to follow the ways of love and justice established by Jesus. The vibrant color of our primary logo is inspired by the extraordinary green we behold when spring bursts forth in Wisconsin. The rich browns and blues that make up the rest of our new color palette are a subtle reference to the vision we inherit from the prophet Isaiah: I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Amen!
But don’t worry; while our new color scheme is not a rainbow, we will continue to include visual indications of our commitment to inclusion. Just as a progress pride flag hangs in the bridge, a progress pride heart will be on every page of our new church website.
We want it to be abundantly clear that we are the Church of the Open Door!
Speaking of our new church website…it’s fabulous! We’re in the final stages of refining and reviewing it, and within a few weeks it will be live. You’ll be able to find information much more easily, and newcomers seeking a community of faith will begin discovering who we are and what we’re about from their very first click.
We hope to see you very soon!
Pastor Katherine and Pastor Nick
