Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir provides the musical centerpiece for Sunday morning worship during the program year. The choir performs a diverse repertoire, including oratorio choruses, traditional anthems, contemporary works, gospel music, sacred jazz, and global music. During the Advent, Lent, and Easter seasons, the choir performs extended works with instrumentalists and the orchestra.

The Sanctuary Choir’s notable achievements include:

  • Singing in cathedrals in England, Scotland, and Wales
  • Performing an auditioned program at the 2016 Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Conference
  • Selected singers participating in a Festival Choir tour to Estonia in 2019
  • Premiering a commissioned anthem, “Pentecost,” by British organist and composer Malcolm Archer and a setting of “The Huron Carol” by church member Howard Niblock, as well as numerous compositions written by LU Music Scholar graduates
  • Collaborating with Ike Sturm’s Jazz Mass with the Ike Sturm Jazz Ensemble and the John Rutter Mass of the Children with the Appleton Boychoir

The Sanctuary Choir welcomes new members throughout the year, including students in high school. All are welcome. No audition required.
